I only remember that my "Technical Theater" professor mentioned it as being a great book for all the techniques and instructions for creating flats, screens, flying, props, etc. I think he also saaid it's out of print, but still pretty easy to find copies of. Any ideas?

Perhaps Paul Carter's "Backstage Handbook" (ISBN: 0911747397); it's brilliant, though it's not out of print.

Go to Amazon.com and search on backstage theater work or stagecraft. You will find a lot of books listed. Don't know if they are the one you want however once you have titles you could go to the library. At the library, if you find one of these books, look in the back in the references section. If the book is as good as your professor said it is, I'll bet that these newer books make reference to it. Once you know the actual title, check amazon again to see if it's in or out of print. If it's out of print go to www.addall.com and search for it in the used book section. Addall.com is a search engine for books. It searches the inventory of various bookstores to find the book you are interested in.
Just in case you can't find the book you want, it's possible that one of the books carried by amazon will meet your needs.
