I shop a lot and I always use cheapest prices search engine for all they offer. Almost every merchant is listed there and a lot of other ways to save time and money.

Searching some of the review magazine's archived issues, also a good place to start is with THX for help with proper home theater set-up...

For electronics, look to Onkyo for receivers, Pioneer or JVC for the DVD player, and KEF, BIC Acoustech, BIC America, Energy, PSB, Paradigm, Boston Acoustics, Hsu Research, or Definitive Technology for speakers and subwoofers.

Or, if you really are on a tight budget and want to keep it simple, look for a good HTIB (home theater in a box) system. In this category, I can recommend JVC, Yamaha, Onkyo, Harman/Kardon, and Denon.

You can find many of these items on the price/product comparison websites.
